Ebbsfleet United vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 20th February 2024
19:45 Kick-Off

Woking face Ebbsfleet United at the Kuflink Stadium in the second of back to back away games on Tuesday night.

After defeat at Halifax, Michael Doyle will be hoping that his side can get back to winning ways at a place where they have struggled to pick up results in past years.

With Rhys Browne returning to the squad, there could be a few changes from the side beaten at the Shay, as the Cards look to win a proverbial ‘six pointer’.

Opposition Watch
The league table was looking much bleaker for the Fleet when they decided to part ways with German boss Dennis Kutrieb, and they’ve certainly enjoyed a new manager bounce under Danny Searle.

Former Aldershot and Braintree boss Searle was given the interim reins ahead of the visit of Oldham, and draws with them and an away draw at Chesterfield gave him the job permanently. His first game in permanent charge on Saturday couldn’t have gone much better, with a 3-0 home win over Eastleigh lifting the Fleet above the Cards and into 21st place.

The return of striker Rakish Bingham from injury has benefitted both him and Searle’s side, with two in his last two games as the Fleet in total have scored five. Other threats include last season’s top scorer Dominic Poleon and former Card Toby Edser.

Overall, Ebbsfleet have picked up 35 points from 34 games, winning nine, drawing eight and losing 17. They’ve scored 43 and conceded 58, leaving them with the fifth worst defensive record.

Last Time Out

In a game where Woking could have scored five or six, it would finish 1-1 at the Laithwaite in September as Jim Kellermann’s first half penalty was cancelled out by Ouss Cisse’s goal on the hour.

The last time Woking travelled to the Kuflink Stadium was in January 2020, and despite Jake Hyde’s penalty opening the scoring, two goals from Tomi Adeloye gave the Fleet all three points and a 2-1 win.

Across 28 games, Ebbsfleet have won 11, with Woking winning seven and 10 draws between the sides.
