Woking v Reading
Pre-Season Friendly
Tuesday 23rd July 2024
19:30 Kick-Off
Woking return to the Laithwaite Community Stadium for the first time since April when they welcome Sky Bet League One side Reading for the Cards' third pre-season friendly.
After defeat at Maidstone on the weekend, Michael Doyle will hope that his side can put on a good showing for the first home crowd of the season. The only notable absentee from Saturday was Jermaine Anderson, with Dale Gorman making his first appearance in Woking colours.
Opposition Watch
With their financial problems well-documented, Ruben Selles' Royals pulled off a fantastic season considering the backdrop in Berkshire, finishing in a comfortable 17th place. They were deducted six points for relative issues relating to the ownership of Dai Yongge, who remains owner despite growing talk of an imminent takeover.
Due to the financial issues at the club, Selles has been unable to sign anyone in the window, instead losing a couple of players on free transfers, such as left-back Clinton Mola who has joined Bristol Rovers. The punishments have meant a reliance on youth, with several promotions from the academy for the likes of powerful striker Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and former Card Jayden Wareham, who is likely to feature against his old side.
Two behind-closed-doors friendlies have seen Reading beat Watford 2-0 at their training ground, with Wareham on the scoresheet, before a 2-1 defeat to Millwall on Friday in the scorching heat. This will therefore be an opportunity for Reading fans to see their team in action before the season kicks off.

Season Ticket Collection
As per previous seasons, season tickets can be collected from the main carpark/entrance area before the game, from 18:00 until 19:30. There will be allocated pickup points by stand name, so please go to your dedicated, sign-posted lane. In the event you have purchased a season ticket, and is has not yet arrived, proof of purchase will enable you entry before 19:30.
If you arrive after 19:30, you will be unable to collect your season ticket, and therefore unable to benefit from the free entry for this game. There will be no exceptions for late arrivals.
If you have collected a season ticket for the Seymours Community Stand or Moaners Corner from the main entrance, you are then able to scan in at the main entrance, rather than walk round to the Gate 4. If you have already purchased a season ticket or general admission ticket for either of these stands, please go to Gate 4 as normal.
Please note that Wych Hill Lane (D3693) and Wych Hill (C141) are closed for six weeks between the hours of 7:00-19:00. Please find alternative routes if travelling via these roads.
We advise fans collecting season tickets to arrive at the ground with plenty of time, and ask that fans are understanding of any delays.
All concession stands will be open as usual, apart from the Legends/Shareholders Bar, Moaners Corner, and The Madri Bar in the Seymours Community Stand. Please make use of the Fan Zone, Cardinals Bar and food concession within the SCS as normal.
