Eastleigh v Woking
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 24th October 2023
19:45 Kick-Off

Woking will look to bounce back from injury time defeat at Dagenham on Saturday when they make the trip down the M3 to Eastleigh.

With two wins in their last ten league games, Darren Sarll will hope for a change in fortune at a venue where Woking have had little to shout about in recent years, but he will have many players to choose from to take to Hampshire. Omitted from the squad on Saturday included Charlie O'Connell and Charlie Wakefield, whilst Alfie Pavey and Timi Odusina were unused subs, so there is room for changes to be made if the manager deems it necessary.

Opposition Watch
Eastleigh started the season off with Lee Bradbury as their manager and Woking academy product Charlie Carter as their star man. Funny how football works, as neither are at the club anymore; Bradbury didn't even make it out of August before the trigger was pulled, and Carter moved to Dorking last week. The Spitfires saw huge change in the summer, as Stewart Donald became owner once again, whilst players such as Danny Whitehall, Vincent Harper and Christian Maghoma all moved on.

Summer signings included former Notts wide man Enzio Boldewijn, and former Barrow and Stockport talisman Scott Quigley, as Donald once again flexed his financial muscle, whilst these marquee additions were complimented by the experienced Jake Taylor, former Woking midfield man Solomon Nwabuokei, and the return of Paul McCallum up front, to name a few, with McCallum scoring 12 in 12 games thus far, including 9 in his last 5 matches.

Eastleigh have won three of their last four, with Richard Hill now permanently at the helm, and have won six overall, drawing five and losing five, putting them in 9th place in the table. They've lost just once at home, but that was a 6-0 demolition by Gateshead on the 9th September.

Last Time Out
A frustrating trip to Hampshire saw Woking beaten 1-0 by a Vincent Harper goal in February, whilst the reverse fixture was a 1-0 win for the Cards at the Laithwaite in October courtesy of Reading loanee Jahmari Clarke. Sandwiched in between the two fixtures was a 2-0 Eastleigh win in the FA Trophy in December, also at the Laithwaite, whilst the last time Woking won this fixture at the Silverlake Stadium was under Garry Hill in 2017.
