Woking Football Club is excited to share its plans for the Cardinals Christmas Project 2022.

This year, the project is more ambitious than ever before with a focus on supporting local families and young children facing hardship - everyone can play their part.

The Plan

Working in partnership with Cardinals in the Community and the Cards Trust, Woking Football Club supporters, players and management have an opportunity to help hundreds of families and children.

Players will take time out to visit and deliver toys to the children’s wards at St Peters and the Royal Surrey County Hospitals. We have done this every year for 14 years and it is so valued and appreciated by young patients, parents and staff alike.

Jigsaw is a local Woking charity who have been operating for 16 years and focusses on supporting families with children under 11 who are facing financial hardship. They also run a wonderful family hub, and now a new Ukrainian family hub, in the Town Centre. Each Christmas, Jigsaw support hundreds of families, and with the cost of living crisis referrals are shooting up at a frightening level; this year more than ever families need our support.

We are collecting

• Winter Warmers – new or preloved, good condition warm clothes (such as pyjamas, slippers, onesies, fluffy socks, dressing gowns) for children under 11
• Toys – new toys (guide value £10 - £15 per item) for care packages for children under 11
• Food – food contributions are also welcome and we will partner with Woking Foodbank to make sure contributions are well used

How you can get involved

• Please consider donating via our Christmas charity fundraising site – every penny contributed (after very reasonable site costs) will be allocated 100% to the appeal
• At the home game against Maidstone, Saturday 3rd December, the Cards Trust will host the annual Christmas bucket collection – please donate if you can
• There is a collection point for winter warmers, toys and food donations at the ground (running up to 12th December) – simply bring your items to Club reception
• For every donation made the club will give a family match ticket to one of the recipient families

The response from fans in previous years has always been magnificent. Once again, we can do our bit and please be assured every donation will make a difference.

Please contact Club Chaplain, Ian Nicholson, on ian.nicholson@wokingfc.co.uk if you have any questions.
