Woking Football Club held their AGM yesterday evening, taking place virtually on Zoom due to Covid restrictions, on the agenda was the election of five directors to the board.
The club is pleased to confirm that
Kelvin Reay, who was retiring by rotation but seeking re-election,
Graeme Beveridge,
Sean Carey, and
John Katz, who were all previously co-opted on to the board, and
Drew Volpe were all elected.
We welcome Drew Volpe to the club, Drew is a partner with Volpe Investments, LLC, a private equity and venture capital firm with an emphasis on sports business based in San Francisco that launched in 2018. He has previously managed sales in Dallas, Texas, for PayChex Inc, one of the largest HCM Software providers in the States.
Drew is also part-owner in his family business, 7th Inning Stretch, LLC, and has become increasingly more involved in it over the past several years. The company owns three Minor League Baseball teams in the USA. Prior to joining the leadership team of 7th Inning Stretch, he spent two years working for another Minor League Baseball team, the Frisco RoughRiders, as the Corporate Marketing and Sales Manager. Drew oversaw the team break their attendance and revenue records in their 10th anniversary season, while averaging over 7,000 fans per game.
Following election to the club board, Drew said: "I couldn't be more excited to join the board in our pursuit for full-time football and I look forward to meeting as many of our great supporters as possible in the near future."
Rosemary Johnson, Chairman, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Drew to the board. His experience in sales and marketing will be of great benefit to the club as we move forwards to become full-time and look forward to seeing him at the club once travel restrictions are lifted."
