Woking Football Club is delighted to welcome Graham Roberts as our Guest of the Day in the Geoff Chapple Lounge on Monday 31st August for our Vanarama National League game against Welling United.
Graham had a hugely distinguished playing career, overcoming a lot of setbacks early on to work his way up from the non-League game with Dorchester and Weymouth to Spurs, for whom he went on to make over 200 appearances, winning the FA Cup twice and the UEFA Cup: he scored in the second leg of the final against Anderlecht and in the penalty shoot-out.
He moved to Rangers in 1986 for £450,000 and won the Scottish Premier Division in his first full season and the Scottish League Cup a year later. He joined Chelsea in August 1988 for £475,000 and helped the side emphatically win the Second Division Championship in 1988–89. He later moved to West Bromwich Albion, where he played out the remainder of his professional career.
