Woking v Ashford Town (Middx)
Surrey Senior Cup 1st Round
7.45pm on Tuesday 4 November 2011
The Cards begin their defence of the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday evening with a visit from Ashford Town (Middx), who are flying high in the Combined Counties League Premier Division. The Tangerines beat Woking in the final of the competition in 2008-09.
WOKING
Garry Hill will presumably give priority on Tuesday evening to giving run-outs to players who have not enjoyed much time on the pitch in recent games, with an eye too to next Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Wrexham.
ASHFORD TOWN (MIDDX)
The Tangerines have lost only three games all season: at home to Cove, league leaders, on the opening day; away at Daventry in an FA Cup replay; and, on Saturday, 3-2 at home to Loxwood of the Sussex County League in the FA Vase. They currently lie second in the Combined Counties table, one point behind Cove but with a game in hand.
Mark Bitmead is top scorer with 17 goals so far, with Dan Fleming bagging 10. Defender Russell Canderton has notched up over 500 games for the club.
