Ryman Youth League
3rd September 2013
This was a third straight win for the Young Cards, but a number of missed chances made the match much harder than it should have been. Woking started well and went ahead after five minutes. A strong run and cross from Smith-Josepeh down the right led to Anderson scoring easily from short range. More goals should have followed as the home side dominated possession but they would not come. Instead, the visitors managed to grab an equaliser before the break. A long hopeful kick upfield was not dealt with by the home side's defence leaving an easy tap-in.
Half-time: Woking 1 Ashford 1
Slack passing at the back almost cost Woking a second goal, but a smart save from the 'keeper and a defensive block kept them level. Despite continued pressure it was hard to see where a goal was coming from. Fortunately, defender Ed Young had different ideas, and forced home two headers from corners to give the home side a cushion. More chances came and went with before Anderson sealed the victory with a fourth goal.
The games are good entertainment and it would be great to see more people supporting the lads' efforts.
