CHERTSEY TOWN YOUTH 0 WOKING YOUTH 3
FA Youth Cup, First Qualifying Round
24 September 2008
Woking Youths had to work hard to earn their passage to the next round of the FA Youth Cup at Alwyns Road this evening against a resilient Chertsey side. It wasn?t until midway through the second half when the impressive Anson Cousins scored the Cards? second goal, latching onto a flicked header, that victory looked assured.
The Cards had taken the lead after some twenty minutes, having weathered some early pressure from the Curfews. The pacy Danilo Cadete slotted home after the Chertsey keeper had only been able to divert Ashley Groombridge?s snap-shot into his path.
Shortly before Woking grabbed their second goal Chertsey came very close to equalising in a quick counter-attack.
The icing on the cake in a sound all-round performance came when Charlie Turnball scored a third goal for the Cards from a superb free-kick five minutes from time.
A fuller report will follow and there will also be a report, plus pictures, in the Weymouth matchday programme.
