Woking 5 - 1 Boreham Wood
Football Conference Youth Cup Semi-Final
3rd March 2010

Woking u19s defeated Boreham Wood by 5 goals to 1 in the Football Conference Youth Cup Semi-Final today.

The young Cards took an early lead in the 7th minute with a well-taken goal by Ollie Palmer.

Boreham Wood levelled in the 17th minute via the penalty spot, after Michael Boateng had been adjudged to have handled the ball. Goalkeeper Matt Pegler, who had played 120 minutes plus a penalty shoot-out the evening before for the first-team, dived the correct way but couldn't quite get a hand to the ball.

Ollie Palmer restored Woking's lead in the 26th minute with a well struck shot with his left foot, before Matt Ellis added another just before half-time to make it 3-1 to Woking going into the break.

Half-Time: Woking 3 - 1 Boreham Wood

The second-half began slowly, with only a couple of yellow cards for Michael Boateng and Gavin Miller to report.

The match livened up in the 66th minute though, when Matt Pegler played the ball out to Ollie Palmer, who set up Josh Coke for the goal of the day. Coke burst into the box, spinning on the ball to beat one defender, before smashing the ball past the keeper with his left foot, a move which wouldn't have looked out of place on Soccer AM's Showboating feature.

The clock was stopped in the 77th minute for nearly half an hour, when an ambulance had to be called for full-back Ifedayo Adetunji, who had landed badly after winning a header.

With play resuming, Danilo Cadete, who had earlier come on for goal-scorer Josh Coke, tried to out do the team-mate he replaced, with his back to two defenders he flicked the ball over his head and rushed in-between both players into the penalty area, and was unlucky to find his shot blocked by another Boreham Wood player.

Ola Sogbanmu headed in a 5th goal for Woking a few minutes before the final whistle.
