Request for employment partners to pursue mutual benefits with Woking players.

Dear Cards Supporter,

This letter is to introduce you to an idea we are anxious to progress. The idea may be relevant to you. If it is not, it may be of more general interest. If neither, please forgive my approaching you.

We are determined to continue to do what we can to improve the financial prospects of our players. We are also committed to doing all we can to help them to be more employable after their career has ended. We think that some friends of the Club may usually be looking to employ people to help with their businesses. Although our players may not have the necessary skills in terms of what you may be looking for immediately, they are quality people, many of them with the potential of becoming very valuable colleagues in the right environment. In the role from which I have recently retired, I was heavily involved with sporting students in education. Forty years of experience has shown that those who are real “winners in Sport are extremely likely to be successful in any area to which they wholeheartedly commit themselves. That does indicate that we need to try very hard to link the right person up with the right position in order to get the best results.

As stated above, the main aim is to investigate employment opportunities following the completion of their football career. However, there may be a role you are considering offering which could be compatible with the demands of modern football. This could either be for the short time out of season or even possibly during the season, depending on the needs or other essential commitment necessary in that role.

Depending on the way you employ staff at the moment, the opportunity to include someone with a real commitment to making that employment work in both the short and longer term, may be a more attractive way of looking to appoint people for you. The process and requirements would be yours, as would any decision on an employment offer but I would do my best to help our player through your process to enable them to present themselves in the best possible light. You will appreciate that most will have been previously encouraged to be entirely focused on a football career. Although their skills and other attributes may well be highly transferrable and valuable to a future employer.

It is our belief that if the Club, the potential employer and the potential employee all agree on the possible mutual advantages a particular situation may represent, that we will have the best chance of making it work for all.

If you would be interested in talking more about this initiative, I would be delighted to hear from you. Although I imagine each expression of interest will require a personal follow-up, if there should be a number of people wanting to discuss this more, it may be appropriate to arrange a short meeting so we could pool issues, concerns or opportunities.

Many thanks for your time in reading this. My contact details are below should you want to take this forward in any way.
