A legendary figure, both in the world of football, and at boyhood club Woking where he has been a supporter for almost his entire life. Martin took up an official position at the club for the first time in May 2018, when he joined the club alongside manager and long-time friend Alan Dowson, as well as later Ian Dyer who completed the managerial trio who had enjoyed so much success at former club Hampton & Richmond Borough. After returning home to Kingfield, Tyler quickly became a beloved presence for players and fans alike on the touchline, helping the team record promotion back to the National League at the first attempt and reach the third round of the FA Cup in his debut season.
Tyler has accompanied Dowse throughout his managerial career, working with him at Walton and Hersham, Kingstonian and Hampton, winning league titles with both the K’s and the Beavers, whilst also helping the latter make back-to-back play-off appearances in the National League South – only missing out on promotion in 2018 on penalties. Martin is, of course, best known for his football commentary. He still works regularly for Sky Sports and was notably voted FA Premier League Commentator of the Decade in 2003. He signed a new contract with the Cards in April 2021 until the summer of 2023.
