Woking cruised to their first win of the season thanks to a clinical display at the Sidlesham Recreational Ground. First goals of the season for Sheena Nichol, Charlotte Keenan and Trudy Bryan-Kerr alongside another Helen Ogle brace helped the team towards a vital three points.

The Cards were nearly in front straight from kick-off, when Kaitlin Howard found Helen with a switch ball but the former’s shot went just over the bar.

More forward intent followed from the visitors as Sheena took aim from outside the box, but a deflection took the ball away from the goal.

All the early pressure paid off though as a fantastic cross from Kaitlin found Sheena, who nodded home from close range. The number eight got off the mark with her first goal of the season.

Just moments later, Woking doubled their lead after a perfect cross from the right-hand side by Charlotte found another head and this time of Helen, who identically finished off the chance just like Sheena, five minutes prior.

The fantastic build-up play continued from the side in red and white, as they made their way up the pitch in only a handful of passes once again. It was clear that by this point they would take the game by storm.

Just before the half-hour mark, it was three thanks to a stunning pass from Sian Hardaker to split the defence and found Helen who rifled the ball into the top left-hand corner. That now takes her tally to four goals in four games.

Roll-on-roll-off subs were available throughout the game and so head coach Anthony Rosenberg-Murray made use of this many times throughout the game.

Helen was having fun out on the pitch during the first-half and nearly got a hat-trick after her silky footwork opened up the space to shoot outside the box, but her effort went agonisingly wide.

In the second half, Woking carried on from where they left off in the first 45 minutes, as brilliant play between Gaby Hobday and Gracie Price finished with Charlotte slotting home for her first goal in Cardinal colours.

Bianca Underhill nearly caught everyone off-guard as her corner was swung in towards the goal but the ball was punched away by the Selsey goalkeeper. The game was then paused for a notable period, due to a nasty injury sustained by the ‘keeper, before getting back underway.

Due to the lengthy stoppage in play, Woking’s last three goals all came late into added-on time, with the first thanks to a custom long-range strike from Sheena finally finding its way into the back of the net.

The goals kept coming and this time it was Trudy’s time to shine as she scored her first goal of the campaign, thanks to her poacher's instinct on where the ball would lie for her to tap home.

She then wrapped the game up to make it seven after a thunderous strike from Lily Davis rattled against the crossbar, but the number 14 was in position once again to this time head home the rebound and double her tally.

A brilliant performance was rewarded with seven superb goals and the fact that Amy Jenkins didn’t have a single save to make in goal was the cherry on top of the cake. The team will now be hoping to take this confidence into their next game, as they return back to the Eastwood Centre to take on Epsom & Ewell in the Capital Women’s Cup First Round.
