Woking Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Sam Habergham.
The defender, 31, will join the Cards from Wealdstone on 1st July, on a deal through to the end of the 2023/24 season.
Habergham started his career in the Norwich City Academy. In 2011, at the age of 19, he moved on to Tamworth and made 30 Conference Premier appearances during the 2011/12 season. Braintree Town came calling ahead of 2012/13, where he made a further 172 Conference Premier appearances for The Iron before joining Danny Cowley’s Lincoln City ahead of 2016/17.
Sam was an integral part of the National League title-winning Imps side, making 43 appearances in 2016/17. Lincoln City won the EFL Trophy and reached the League Two play-offs in 2017/18, with Habergham making 40 appearances. In 2020, he moved on to Grimsby Town and made a further 13 League Two appearances. A short spell in Australia with Peninsula Power followed in early 2022, before joining Wealdstone for the 2022/23 season, where Sam made 36 National League appearances.

“Sam is someone we know well having spent some time with us last pre-season, where we were greatly impressed. I felt, at the time, that the dynamic of the team needed a different priority; Sam went away, had a brilliant season for Wealdstone where they overachieved, and he was a huge part of that,” said Manager Darren Sarll.
“He’s another player we’ve recruited this year who has been a captain with experience and leadership qualities. He gives us flexibility as a six-foot-plus left-sided defender, that can cater for more than just a back four – he may cater for a back three if we ever needed it.
“I felt Sam would be an integral signing that would create greater balance, resilience and longevity for the squad,” Sarll added.
