Woking Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former manager and assistant manager, Fred Callaghan.
Fred was instrumental in the Club's resurgence in the eighties and nineties, originally taking over as manager in 1978, before becoming Geoff Chapple's assistant alongside Colin Lippiatt.
He was an integral part of the staff which led Woking in the iconic 1991 FA Cup run, culminating at Goodison Park against Everton.
Fred made almost 300 senior league appearances for Fulham in his playing career, and also managed Enfield, Brentford, Basingstoke Town and Wealdstone.
Fred was held in the highest regard by his colleagues and supporters, and will be sorely missed.
