Forest Green Rovers vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 20th February 2025
15:00 Kick-Off
Woking are back in National League action just a few days after victory over Solihull Moors on Wednesday night with a trip to Forest Green Rovers.
Neal Ardley rotated his side with Chin Okoli and Tunji Akinola in for Timi Odusina and Jokubas Mazionis, the latter of which was ill. A clean sheet means he has a dilemma as to who to leave out ahead of a visit to the world’s only vegan football club.
Seven points in their last three games means Woking can look to this game with confidence as they travel to a side with high expectations.
Opposition Watch
There was only ever going to be one aim for Forest Green Rovers after returning to non league for the first time since 2017: promotion. Going up as champions is now a big ask after picking up just a point in two games against bottom half sides Braintree and Ebbsfleet, scoring none.
Barnet, by contrast, picked up six from their last two games and have a seven point gap over Rovers, who have a game in hand on the Bees at least. Therefore, this is a must win game for FGR, who have Woking and Maidenhead both at home in their next two whilst Barnet travel to Rochdale and Oldham.
Steve Cotterill has been heavily backed, with fees paid for Harry Cardwell from Southend and of course Cian Harries, who left the Cards in January and has played every minute in Rovers’ last five games. Star man Kyle McAllister has nine goals and eight assists so far, including the goal at Woking last time these sides met that secured a point, whilst former Rangers midfielder Charlie McCann is on eight for the season.
63 points from 32 games thus far represents a return that should at least secure FGR home advantage in the playoffs, with only Rochdale (who have played four games fewer) having a tighter backline than the 25 conceded by Cotterill’s side.
