Yeovil Town vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 11th January 2025
15:00 Kick-Off

Woking return to league action on Saturday with a trip to Yeovil Town. Tuesday night’s 4-0 win over Radcliffe was morale boosting for several squad players who started their first game under Neal Ardley, including two goals and two assists for Lewis Walker, and a goal and assist for Tom Leahy.

Both will hope they can force their way into a squad that has been unchanged for the most part since Altrincham, although one player who won’t be available is Max Dyche; the centre back has been recalled by Northampton Town.

Opposition Watch
Yeovil Town successfully navigated their way out of the National League South as champions, finishing eleven points clear at the top. However, it has been all change for Mark Cooper’s side, with 19 players in and a fair few of the squad from last season, including Jordan Young to Torquay after scoring 14 times last season, whilst experienced players such as Frank Nouble are transfer listed.

Yeovil have just announced the return of young striker Ciaran McGuckin on loan from Rotherham, who scored three in six games during his last spell in September and October. Jacob Maddox has also joined from Forest Green.

The Glovers currently sit seven points above the Cards in 12th position, having occupied the final playoff place not long ago. Despite having picked up one point in their last three games, Cooper thinks his side have deserved more, and will be looking for their second win over the Cards in their last six league games.

One to watch is former Torquay midfielder Brett McGavin, who has six goals so far this season including his impressive volley at the Laithwaite in late November. That game turned out to be Michael Doyle’s last home league game, so Yeovil will get to see how much has changed in little under three weeks with Ardley at the helm.

Ticket information is available here, with Woking fans allocated blocks P and N of the Screwfix stand.

The Cards Trust coach is now sold out for this fixture.

Last Time Out
Yeovil ran out 2-0 winners at the Laithwaite in late November thanks to Brett McGavin and Finn Cousin-Dawson either side of half time, with the Cards’ task being made more difficult when Jack Stretton was sent off after just 18 minutes.

When the sides met in 2022-23, Woking were 1-0 winners on both occasions, with a home win in November 2022 followed up by an away win at Huish Park in March 2023.
