Barnet vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 23rd November 2024
15:00 Kick-Off

Woking visit promotion contenders Barnet on Saturday hoping to build on victory last time out, but knowing that even a draw at the Hive would be a positive result.

Matt Ward’s goal was enough to see off Boston United last Saturday at the Laithwaite, but the Bees managed to come from 3-1 down to beat Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road, so they will have plenty of momentum themselves.

Opposition Watch
Not many could have seen Barnet’s season ending in the manner in which it did. A 4-0 home defeat to Solihull Moors was a dire way to finish what had been the Bees’ best season in this division since promotion back in 2015, but Dean Brennan’s side have shown no signs of playoff hangover as of yet.

Some huge signings in the summer included Woking’s Rhys Browne, who bagged 20 in this division two seasons ago, along with Aldershot player of the season Ryan Glover, who arrived late in pre-season. The likes of Anthony Hartigan, who arrived permanently from Mansfield, as well as a core consisting of Nicke Kabamba, Zak Brunt and Callum Stead to name just a few, has seen the Bees bag 38 times in 18 games, more than any other side.

A thrilling 5-3 defeat at Exeter in the FA Cup saw the Bees lead several times, whilst wins over Rochdale and Dagenham have steadied the ship after back-to-back defeats to Solihull and York in October. Home form is borderline ridiculous, with the Bees boasting one of the best records in the country having won eight and drawn one of their nine home games. 22 scored and five conceded in these shows the magnitude of getting a result at the Hive for the Cards, themselves winless since August on the road.

Around the Ground
Tickets are available here, with Woking fans allocated Stand 66 behind the goal.

The Hive is easily accessible by public transport, with Canons Park well serviced by the Jubilee Line.

Spaces are still available on the Cards Trust coach, book here.

Last Time Out
Woking secured a crucial three points towards survival and essentially ended Barnet’s extremely faint title hopes thanks to Kevin Berkoe’s goal back in March at the Laithwaite, whilst Barnet ran out 2-0 winners in a dominant performance back in early August 2023 at the Hive.

Since the Cards were promoted back to this level in 2019, they’ve won four times against the Bees, with Barnet victorious on four occasions, and there have been two draws.
