AFC Fylde vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 21st September 2024
15:00 Kick-Off
Woking will hope to bounce back after last weekend’s defeat when they travel to Lancashire to take on AFC Fylde.
Following defeat to Oldham, Michael Doyle will look to get back to winning ways, with changes possible to the squad. Josh Smith has been loaned to Matlock Town so will not be in the squad, but Charley Kendall has scored three times this season, albeit all off the bench, so he will hope to start.
Opposition Watch
AFC Fylde come into this fixture managerless, after Chris Beech followed Ebbsfleet’s Danny Searle in being dismissed from his position. A poor start for the Coasters, culminating in a 3-0 away defeat to current leaders York, meant that Beech’s side had picked up just five points from eight games, winless in seven before their rearranged game with Southend.
A 2-1 win, courtesy of a late winner from top scorer Nick Haughton means that interim manager Nathan Delfouneso is off to a winning start. Haughton has not had any problems getting going this season, with that goal being his eighth in nine games, making him the one to watch for Fylde.
A busy summer with 15 incomings including the likes of Newport forward Offrande Zanzala, Carlisle right back Corey Whelan and former Wigan man Gavin Massey was topped off with Fylde turning down big bids for talented midfielder Taelor O’Kane, and there is a general feeling that Fylde are in a false position. Both wins so far have been at Mill Farm.

Last Time Out
In a must-win game for the Cards to avoid relegation back in April, they did it in style by seeing off Fylde by a 3-0 margin, with Tunji Akinola at the double and Kevin Berkoe adding the third.
The reverse fixture also went the way of the Cards in September 2023, with goals in either half from Padraig Amond and Lewis Walker sealing a 2-0 victory.
In five meetings between these sides, Woking have won all five, including three trips to Mill Farm.
