Woking v Wealdstone
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 10th September 2024
19:45 Kick-Off
Woking are back under the lights at the Laithwaite on Tuesday night as they take on familiar opponents Wealdstone. Following a point and a clean sheet away at Braintree Town on Saturday, Michael Doyle’s side are looking to back it up against a side very much in transition.
Debuts for Raheem Conte and Tom Leahy were positive signs as the squad continues to take shape, and Doyle may look to rotate with another game fast around the corner.
With Two for Tuesday on offer, why not come down and bring a friend to help cheer on the Cards!
Opposition Watch
Wealdstone have punched above their weight at this level since promotion in 2020 as National League South champions, but last season was their most challenging period since Covid. Stuart Maynard left for Notts County, David Noble’s tenure was a mere 73 days before a battering at Boreham Wood left the Stones on the brink, but Sam Cox picked up the pieces to secure safety in incredible fashion, three wins from their last four proving enough.
Matt Taylor was appointed in May, with this being his first venture in non-league football. The losses of former Woking attacker Tarryn Allarakhia to Rochdale, key defender Charlie Barker to Crawley and goalkeeper Marcus Dewhurst to Aldershot have been challenges for the new man, but with 13 incomings, most notably former Notts winger Enzio Boldewijn, former Watford defender Adrian Mariappa and Sutton midfielder Craig Eastmond, the focus is on experience in key areas to keep the Stones afloat.
However, this hasn’t gone to plan thus far, with a lengthy injury list disrupting what has been a tricky start. Five points from seven games, with a solitary home win against Fylde means that the Stones are looking for results to improve, although they were just seconds away from beating Hartlepool away on the Bank Holiday weekend.

Last Time Out
Nathan Ferguson’s goal was cancelled out by Charley Kendall as both teams shared the points back in February, whilst the reverse fixture was won by the Stones courtesy of a Sam Bowen strike.
In eleven games between the sides, Woking have won four, there have been three draws and the Stones have also won four.
