The Cards made it through to the next round of the Surrey Senior Cup this evening but only after being made to work hard by a lively Walton Casuals side.
The Stags made a fine start, taking the lead in the second minute when a useful ball over the top from ex-Card Kevin MacLaren caught out the Woking defence. Ross Worner came out to the left edge of his area but could not prevent Serge Musungu reaching the ball first and crossing it for Mark King to shoot home. It took Woking 28 minutes to level the scores. A well-worked move was rounded off when Liam Marum (pictured) fired home decisively. The Cards were well on top for the rest of the first half but failed to make their chances pay.
Woking started poorly in the second half but eventually increased the tempo and applied more pressure, but Giuseppe Sole in particular was guilty of some slack finishing. Just when extra time seemed to be looming Liam Marum swivelled on the edge of the box, in the 86th minute, to hit a fine high volley past the Stags? keeper for the winner.
Woking: Ross Worner, Lewis Christon, Paul Lorraine, Tom Hutchinson (Jay Gasson, 45), Danny Bunce; Goma Lambu, Matt Pattison (Bradley Quamina, 45), Jerome Maledon, Adam Green (Marvin Morgan, 62), Giuseppe Sole, Liam Marum
