Rochdale v Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 31st August 2024
15:00 Kick-Off
Woking are looking to make it four wins on the bounce as they are back on the road on Saturday at Rochdale.
In a thrilling 3-2 win over Hartlepool with the DAZN cameras watching, it was super subs Matt Ward and Harry Beautyman who helped defeat ten man Pools. They could well be in the starting eleven for the trip to Crown Oil Arena, as Michael Doyle has plenty of options to choose from.
Opposition Watch
Rochdale crashed into non-league in a complete mess last season, but under the guidance of Jim McNulty, an 11th placed finish, as well as long standing off-the-field issues being rectified means that Dale are well positioned to make a push for the play-offs this season.
A squad quite strong already on paper has been bolstered with the likes of former Woking playmaker Tarryn Allarakhia, who joined from Wealdstone, Gateshead forward and match winner at Yeovil, Connor McBride, midfielder Aaron Henry on loan from Charlton and Tobi Adebayo-Rowling from Notts County.
The focus is on bedding these additions into a side with proven firepower such as Devante Rodney and veteran striker Ian Henderson to help Dale solve their issues with inconsistency last season. A side that loves to dominate the ball, no team has conceded fewer than Rochdale’s three goals in their opening five games, which will be an interesting battle against a Woking attack who have scored six in their last two games.
Two wins, two draws and a solitary defeat at York mean it’s been a solid start for Dale, who currently occupy seventh place. Having scored once in their two home games thus far, the onus is on whether McNulty’s side can get the likes of Rodney scoring regularly.
