Women's Team Rebrand
In line with Cardinals in the Community's commitment to growing women and girls football in Woking and surrounding areas, the ladies team are heading into the 2022/23 season committed to a new vision and focus.
As well as rebranding the team as Woking FC Women, previously Ladies, the Club will be refreshing the pathway to first-team football with the reserve side now becoming the Woking FC Women Development Team.
“As a management team and playing squad we felt it was important to be clear in what we wanted to achieve both short term and long term," said Women's Manager Benson Miyoba.
"The first focus when arriving in December was to maintain our tier six status in what was a challenging first season following promotion. We achieved that with it going a bit close for comfort but now we can look ahead. As a county Surrey is really driving the women and girls game forward and producing some amazing young talent.
"We want to work closely with Cardinals in the Community to create a pathway for our Club that local talented players want to be a part of. Our long-term goal is to achieve Women’s National League football and with that only two tiers away we need to start succession planning now. The new commitment to the development team will support that," Miyoba added.
The Club is currently looking for experienced and ambitious players that are looking for a new challenge next season to join the first-team. Our aim is to challenge for promotion within the Southern Region Women’s League. Our development team will be playing competitive football at tier seven and we are also keen to hear from players that are ready to make the transition from girls to women's football (age 16+) and join our current squad for pre season training.
