Downslink Challenge Bike Ride 2021
Woking Football Club will be represented in this year’s Downslink Challenge Bike Ride!
The Woking ride will take place on Sunday 10th October with the club being represented by John Katz, Dowse, Josh Casey, Lloyd Wye & Scott Steele.
Josh Casey will be taking on the Century ride (96 miles) where he will ride mostly off road from Knaphill to Brighton and back again, and the others will take on the Challenge ride where they will ride from Brighton to Knaphill.
Organiser Steve McKeown and Josh Casey will leave Knaphill at 6am, ride down to meet the others at Brighton for 10am, where they will all ride back together along the old railway line, the Downs link.
We would expect the team to arrive back at the Garibaldi pub in Knaphill at roughly 4pm.
The money raised each year is split between Woking & Sam Beare Hospice and a guest charity. This year’s guest charity is Little Roo Neonatal fund at St. Peters’ Hospital.

There have already been some smaller rides this year for those who couldn’t make the main event on Saturday 4th September as the date has changed twice this year due to Covid restrictions.
Five of their riders took on the ProEdition course that entails 128 miles of off-road riding earlier this year.
On 4th September they will have 17 Century riders and 26 Challenge riders all crossing the finish back at the Garibaldi in Knaphill hoping to reach their £30,000 target.
The Downslink Challenge is in its 6th year now where they should exceed the £100k raised in total.
Totals raised so far:
2016 - £6,691
2017 - £17,276
2018 - £20,585
2019 - £29,179
2020 - £16,022 (COVID addition with only 30 riders)
