Helping Combat Holiday Hunger and Food Insecurity
In common with millions of people around the country, Woking FC has been moved by the groundswell of support for Marcus Rashford in his appeal to end child hunger in the UK.
West Surrey has thousands of children living in poverty and, in the midst of a pandemic and inevitable economic hardship we want to commit the club to doing what we can in these unprecedented times.
We have no desire to reinvent the wheel and, in the short term with schools on holiday, we have partnered with two local organisations to offer immediate support. Moving on we will look at a more long-term response.
The contact details are below but please if you are in need – or know others in need – don’t hesitate to contact us and we will make it happen. Any requests will be treated confidentially so please do get in touch – many of us have been in similar situations in the past and that is what community is about.
Our two partners are:
• Foodwise (www.foodwisetlc.care)
Foodwise provide free meals for families facing food insecurity and were very active in the first phase of Covid 19 and Holiday Hunger. All you need to do is contact us on the details below, answer a few simple questions (it takes 2 minutes) and we will then refer you to Foodwise who will immediately provide 2 nutritious frozen meals for the whole family
• Woking Foodbank (www.woking.foodbank.org.uk)
Woking Foodbank provides emergency food and essential supplies to local families by way of a referral system. If you would like help from the foodbank please do get in touch
In the first instance please contact firstname.lastname@example.org / 07976351891; it is a simple and quick process.
Finally, if you are not living in Woking do still contact us and we will refer to similar initiatives elsewhere.
