Woking FC general update – including opportunities to see the new stadium plans

On Friday night the Legends' Night was a resounding success as former Woking greats joined us for the evening; namely Clive Walker, Ian Selley, Mark Tucker, Colin Fielder, Darren Hay, Trevor Baron, Lloyd Wye, Scott Steele, Neil Smith and Grant Payne with Dowse and Geoff Chapple keeping an eye on things in the background. It was a great night and many thanks to Steve Knight, Jodie Selley and Lloyd Wye for getting the gang together.

This Saturday at the Hartlepool game we have our annual bucket collection for the visits to the children’s wards at St Peter’s and the Royal Surrey Hospitals. 100% of the money donated will go towards toys and gifts as the players visit. Woking fans are always big – hearted so thank you, in advance for your generosity

It was also a very big week for the club as we submitted plans for our new stadium to the Council. This has taken many months of preparation, consultation and revision and we now have an exciting proposal for the club to finally be viable and sustainable at this level – with a clear vision to progress further. In addition it positions our historic club to continue to be at the heart of the community for many generations to come, with Surrey’s premier stadium equipped for the Football League.

Last week we presented the plan, with revisions, to the Council and appreciation was expressed for listening and amending key parts.

The following day we presented to fans through the Cards Trust meeting and then followed with a public display on the Friday; it was good to see so many fans popping by.

During this coming week the plans and proposals will be available to see online and we will let you know as soon as that is possible. Then, at next week’s game against Hartlepool, the plans and various representatives of the stadium scheme will be at the game. From 12.30pm until kick off you will be able to meet us in the Shareholders' Bar, ask your questions and sign postcards of support.

We thank Shareholders for their understanding on this occasion – the Bar will be available for Players and Shareholders as usual after the game. Thank you.

There will of course be many other displays and presentations in the coming few months.
