Woking vs Wrexham
MANarama National League
Saturday 5th October 2019

The Cards will be looking to put September’s winless run behind them on Saturday, with Wrexham, the visitors to The Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Despite having enough chances to comfortably win the game against Boreham Wood last weekend, Woking suffered their second successive defeat, but remain near the top of the table, only four points off leaders Bromley. Ben Gerring will be serving the final match of his suspension after he got sent off at Chorley, and Tyreke Johnson remains out through injury.

Wrexham, who finished fourth in last season’s National League, have yet to win away this season, and go into the match on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Solihull Moors.

Woking Team News

Other than Gerring and Johnson, Dowse should have a full squad to choose from. It’s unfortunate that Tuesday’s friendly against Westfield was postponed, due to the weather, as it would have given much needed game time to those on the fringes, and those coming back from injury who could do with getting some match fitness.

Wrexham Team News

Caretaker manager Brian Flynn will be without his captain, Shaun Pearson, who is suspended after he picked up his fifth yellow card during the week. Their top scorer, Bobby Grant, got their only goal on Tuesday and is in fine goal scoring form. Last year’s Player of the Season, Rob Lainton, is currently out injured so Christian Dibble is likely to be in goal for the visitors. Experienced centre-back Manny Smith is also out injured.

Josh Staunton opened the scoring last time out, scoring with a header from a corner, with the visitors taking the lead early in the second half with both goals coming from Marcus Kelly. Joey Jones rescued a point for the Cards, but they could have had all three when Reece Grego-Cox was hauled to the ground in the box but no penalty was given.
