It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie Mortimore MBE.

Charlie had been in a care home for the past 7 years, suffering from dementia, but had enjoyed good health right until the end.

Charlie scored 250 goals for the Cards in 363 appearances, which is still a club record.

He will be best known for leading Woking to the FA Amateur Cup final at Wembley Stadium in 1958, where the Cards defeated Ilford 3-0 in front of a crowd of 71,000.

Thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones at this sad time.

We will be holding a minute's applause on Saturday before our match against Ebbsfleet United.
