Woking Football Club can confirm that their star midfielder John Goddard has signed for League One side Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee.

The ‘Robins’ beat a host of Football League, and Championship teams for the signature of Goddard. Swindon owner and Chairman Lee Power said after the signing: “We were aware of the number of clubs interested in signing the player and we are delighted to have finally secured John’s signature with him being one of the hottest properties in Non League Football. From the moment we were given permission to speak with the player and agree terms, Woking have been absolutely first class in their handling of the situation, I have been mightily impressed with the professional way in which Geoff Chapple has dealt with myself and it will be fitting for me to bring Swindon Town to Woking in pre-season to allow John to say farewell to his beloved fans.

Woking manager Garry Hill commented: “John has been outstanding for me, and of course the club. He is well grounded, and conducts himself brilliantly both on and off the pitch. He has had a fantastic season, and for a midfield player to get the amount of goals he has, it’s no wonder that so many clubs were chasing his signature.

Everyone at Woking Football Club would like to thank John for his fantastic service to the club and wish him every success for the future.
