NEIL SMITH RELEASED

12:00am, Tue 8th May 2007
Woking Football Club confirm that Club Captain Neil Smith has been released from the club. Everyone at the Kingfield thank Neil for his commitment, passion, effort and services to Woking FC, particularly for the final 6 games of the season in charge, alongside Graham Baker. We wish him all the very best for the future.

Neil signed for the Cards from Stevenage Borough in October 2002. A highly committed, hard working, passing midfielder, he has over 300 Football League games behind him in a career that has seen him play for Reading, Gillingham and Fulham, being part of promotion-winning sides at all three clubs. Was massively influential in Woking?s escape act in the 2002/03 season and won three ?player of the year? awards in the 2003/04 season in recognition of his inspirational leadership on and off the pitch. Went on to make 199 appearances for Woking and became a firm favourite around Kingfield, showing undiminished drive and determination. Took over first team affairs alongside Graham Baker for the final 6 games of the 2006/07 season to keep Woking in the Conference for 2007/08.

Neil will be greatly missed around Kingfield by all at the club and supporters alike. He will be a great asset to his next employer.
