This eagerly awaited top of the table clash witnessed a robust and determined Woking side send AFC Wimbledon and their supporters away disappointed. Woking now need to win just one of their last two remaining games to secure the League title.

With Graham Baker holding the 1st team reins, Scott Harrison was in the hot seat.

The first half was full of energy and endeavor albeit neither side were able to create any gilt edged goal scoring opportunities, the sides were well into injury time when Ben Zatwardnicki in the Woking goal saw an opening and knocked a long ball into the AFC half, Delano Sam-Yorke outpaced the defence and rose to challenge the AFC keeper, the ball then fell nicely into the path of Ross White who coolly slotted home.

Half time: Woking 1 AFC Wimbledon 0.

Twenty two minutes into the second half and Woking won a corner, David Shin floated the ball into the box and Joe Mcnerny rose majestically to head the ball home.

Woking 2 AFC Wimbledon 0

Then approaching full time with the game won, Billy Hussey fed the ball to Delano Sam-Yorke out on the right, Delano cut across the AFC box and fired home a fabulous left footed strike into the bottom right hand corner of the goal.

Woking 3 AFC Wimbledon 0.

The entire squad deserve credit in this game, they all worked hard as a unit and in the final analysis the best team won: Delano Sam-Yorke must get a mention for his one assist and one goal but it was the Woking defence today that caught the eye, Carlos Talbot and Kevin Maclaren were both magnificent over the ninety minutes but for me it was the leadership both vocally and by example of the Captain on the day that gets the Man of the Match Award.

MOTM: Kevin Maclaren.

Squad: Ben Zatwardnicki, David Suchy, Ashley Quashie-Pownall, Matthew Powell, Carlos Talbot, Kevin Maclaren, Davis Shin, Billy Hussey, Ross White, Delano Sam-Yorke, Dan Evans.

Subs used: Jide Ogunbote, Joe Mcnerny, Jonny Targett.

Subs not used: Sam Towe, Pekan Samsdeen.

WESTFIELD 3 WOKING 2

U18 Southern Youth League West Division

Woking lost their first League game of the season in a bizarre game that witnessed Westfield being effectively gifted three open goals.

Westfield took their opportunities well and deserved to win on the day.

Liam Thomas scored the first for Woking and Pekan Samsdeen scored the second following some good work by Sam Robinson down the right.

Not a bad thing for the Woking lads to get a reality check every now and then.

Squad: Ross Worner, Adam Gatcum, Chris Dean, Luke Baker, Daniel Sintim, Liam Thomas, Grant Edgecock, Sam Robinson, Ricardo Williams, Pekan Samsdeen, Jamie Montgomery,

Subs used: Ian Hester, Reis Stanislaus, Yanic Owusu.

Subs not used: Jordan Pearce, Ben Carter.
