Vanarama Conference and Teenage Cancer Trust

12:38pm, Thu 28th Aug 2014
The generosity of club members and guests who attended the annual Football Conference Gala Awards Dinner in June at Celtic Manor Hotel, was marked with a donation of £3550 to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The presentation was made to a representative of the Trust at half time LIVE on BTSport on August Bank Holiday Monday (25th) at the New Lawn when Forest Green Rovers hosted local rivals Bristol Rovers in the eagerly awaited first ever Vanarama Conference derby fixture.

Conference Chairman Brian Lee, who carried out the pleasant task of handing over the donation said: "My fellow directors and all our member clubs join with me to endorse that our chosen charitable beneficiary for 2014 is a worthwhile recipient. The Teenage Cancer Trust works in a specialist field, responding to needs with first class support, through an excellent service of care to those young people and their families who unfortunately face such difficult times. I am honoured to be presenting a financial contribution as a small token of gratitude and esteem from our membership towards the sterling work they undertake in our communities".

The Teenage Cancer Trust in response to the donation received from the Vanarama Conference, wished the following information to be departed to clubs with their grateful thanks for the sum of £3550: "Teenage Cancer Trust build specialist units within NHS hospitals bringing young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them. Developing our units is just the first step in Teenage Cancer Trust’s commitment to helping young people with cancer. Teenage Cancer Trust also needs to contribute each year for the on-going costs of the units. This includes funding the salaries of the Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator and the Lead Nurse Specialist as well as projects such as our education programme which reaches out to thousands of young people in schools, colleges and universities throughout the region every year".
