Woking Youth 1 Peacehaven & Telscombe 0
FA Youth Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
9th October 2013
The visitors deserved a great deal of credit for coming to Kingfield and taking the game straight to their opponents. In the first ten minutes, they forced four corners and could have taken the lead. With Peacehaven taking the initiative, Woking were unable to get into their stride. However, having weathered the early storm, Placid used his pace to get into the box on fifteen minutes and as the ball ran loose he placed a firm shot into the corner to give Woking the lead against the run of play. The home side then had their best spell of the match and had a shot cleared off the line. A great pass form Anderson found Placid clear but he was unable to get the ball under control.
The second half continued in much the same way with Woking unable to dominate as they had in earlier rounds. The visitors had a good spell with Harris pulling off a fine save in the Woking goal and the follow-up shot was forced away for a corner. They also had a twenty- five yard free kick which cleared the bar. From one of a number of corners the ball was headed against the underside of the bar and came out again.
The best chance of the half for Woking came with a Placid run but his attempted pass in front of goal was blocked.
Woking will be at home to Cray Wanderers in the next round during w/c 21st October (exact date tbc).
