HMS Duncan

6:06pm, Wed 8th May 2013
Following on from the formal association between the Royal Navy’s Type 45 Destroyer ‘HMS Duncan’ and Woking Football Club the crew were invited to attend our final home game of the season against Grimsby Town.

We received a letter from the Commanding Officer the following week which said;

Dear Mr Smith,

I would like to thank you for your superb hospitality on Tuesday evening. The 15 members of my Ship’s Company thoroughly enjoyed the match, despite the result; an excellent evening was had my all.

All were particularly impressed with the unity clearly evident within the Football Club and the atmosphere created within the Kingfield Stadium. We are sure you can build on your sounds progress this season in pushing upwards towards the playoff places during the next campaign.

I am delighted we have formed an association with Woking Football Club. I look forward to sharing many more matches and events as we continuously champion our respective brands. I will be inviting you onboard HMS Duncan in the near future to give you an insight into our capabilities as the Royal Nay’s most modern Anti Air Warfare Destroyer.

Again apologies for being unable to attend the match and I hope to be able to host you on board in the near future.

Yours aye

James Stride
The Commanding Officer, HMS Duncan
