Ron Rawlings

It is with immense sadness that Woking FC has learned of the passing of committed club servant Ron Rawlings, following an extended illness.

Ron was heavily involved, on a daily basis, at Woking for many years and his loss will be acutely felt by all who knew him. His primary role was as a kit man for the Academy and first team squad and hundreds of players, coaches and managers will have been helped by his affable advice and friendly encouragement, usually over a cup of tea. In addition to kit duties Ron was involved in numerous other ways behind the scenes and, despite his serious illness, still came in, until a few weeks ago, to help in any way he could.

Ron's passing will leave a very big hole in the life of the club and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him; he was a gentleman and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.You can read an extended profile of Ron, written for the club programme, here.

In particular all at Woking FC would like to extend their deepest sympathies to Ron's wife Pat and the large, extended Rawlings family.

A minute's commemoration of Ron, along with programme tributes, will be held before Saturday's home game against Wrexham in grateful memory of his life and involvement with the club.

Once details are finalised the club will notify fans about the funeral arrangements through a website announcement.
