Woking 3 Arundel 0
FA Youth Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
4th October 2012
A sparsely-populated Kingfield saw the Woking U18s side go through to play eitherAylesbury or Newport Pagnell away in the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
Woking were on the attack from the off, their pass and move style being too much for Arundel. In defence the young Cards’ side were rarely troubled, with Liam Allen in goal only fielding two back passes in the first thirty minutes.
A goal came in the first few minutes. Young played the ball down the line to Antwi. His cross was met by Manderson, who headed beyond the visiting keeper and into the net.
Play continued in the same vein but the final pass and a number of offsides prevented any further score. Arundel were finding it difficult to put more than two passes together as Woking worked hard to close them down. The visitors did manage to get three good crosses in but they were easily fielded by Allen.
On forty-two minutes the game was made safe. Taylor picked up a loose ball, ran on and hit a firm shot home from twenty yards.
The Woking management introduced three substitutes from the start of the second half, which continued in the same vein with Woking enjoying the majority of possession.
With chances coming and going without adding to the score, Woking never looked in any danger. Arundel did manage to
hit a post direct from a corner but a third goal came when Manderson got clear for his second of the night.
The last action of the game saw Taylor clear, only to hit his shot well over.
A win in the next round will give the U18s a chance to pit themselves against league opposition.
