The club has issued its accounts ahead of the AGM on 15 October, and this has led to some speculation on the fans forum, about the reported loss of £150k for 2011/12. Shareholders must be the first to receive a detailed explanation on the accounts and, as is normal, we will have an open question session where shareholders can ask whatever they like. In the meantime, this leaves us open to speculation.
Therefore, the board feels it is important to stress, ahead of the AGM, that the club is not spending money it doesn't have and we are not risking the club's future and not making commitments we can't keep. We do not owe anyone any money, outside the normal commercial cycle.
Real progress has been made in the last eighteen months or so and Woking FC has answered in full measure, the question I raised when I joined the club, which was, "Are we going to "exist?", or "compete?".
The answer lies in the appointment and long term retention of a first-class management pairing, a play-off semi-final, a championship winning year last season, leading the league since September, a Surrey Senior Cup in the cabinet and a first class start to life back in the top flight of non-league football; all of this within the club's means.
