Woking 7 Dorking 0
FA Youth Cup 1st Qualifying Round
18th September 2012
Woking’s U18 side swept into the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a seven goal demolition of visitors Dorking. Rarely troubled at the back, these young Cards controlled midfield and looked always likely to score as their dangerous forwards ran the Dorking side ragged.
Goals came at regular intervals and after a couple of close shaves the hosts finally opened their account on fourteen minutes with the diminutive Danny Taylor turning a dangerous cross from the left into the goal from close range.
Seven minutes later Robbie Lobonza headed in at the far post after a Woking corner had been flicked across the area and three minutes later Taylor again found the net. After good work down the left flank from Nathan Antwi, Jordy Ndjeka’s effort was cleared off the line but Taylor was on hand to score his second and Woking’s third.
The second half saw Woking increasingly dominate possession with Cards' keeper Liam Allen rarely troubled. Dorking were awarded a number of dangerous free-kicks but were unable to create any clear cut chances.
On fifty minutes the goal of the game saw Woking increase their lead further as, after a Lobonza header had come back off the post, Antwi curled a delightful left-foot shot from the edge of the box into the far corner.
The Cards’ fifth came from substitute Craig Manderson, who rounded the Dorking keeper to score after he had made the most of a long ball over the top. And after Taylor had missed a great opportunity to secure a deserved hat-trick as he curled an effort just over when one-on-one with the keeper, Ndjeka was brought down in the box. He stepped up himself to convert the spot-kick and increase Woking’s lead further against an increasingly dispirited Dorking side.
The final goal came on seventy-four minutes. This time it was Manderson again who slotted the ball home after carving his way past several Dorking defenders.
Overall, an excellent performance from the Cards in front of a small but enthusiastic crowd – get down to Kingfield for the U18s next game in this important competition. You won’t be disappointed!
