Cards target Boxing Day win

Switch off the TV and come down to Kingfield for some Boxing Day football action! There’s a very interesting game in prospect as the Cards, eager to push up the league table, take on a Hawks side with plenty of Woking connections, including former Kingfield favourites Ian Selley and Gez Sole. An added attraction for Woking fans is a likely home debut for Joe Keehan, following his impressive debut at Harlow Town, and, possibly, for Reiss Noel too. First of all, though, the Club urgently needs your help from 11.00am tomorrow morning to clear the remaining ice and snow and to remove the covers that have kept the pitch playable. Hot drinks and mince pies for volunteers!

WOKING

On the assumption that everyone is fit, Graham Baker will have some difficult selection decisions to make, with both Alan Inns and Anson Cousins performing well at Harlow two weeks ago in the Cards’ fine FA Trophy win and with Sam Hurrell champing at the bit to get back into action following his return from a successful loan spell at Boreham Wood.

Everyone in the Woking camp knows that these Christmas/New Year fixtures are crucial, with a need to turn draws into wins, so there will be every incentive for the Cards to make home advantage pay.

HAVANT AND WATERLOOVILLE

The Hawks narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season and will be looking to do even better this time round. At present they sit in 11th position in the table, two places above the Cards and with two games in hand. Like the Cards, their home form has been uncertain but they have a fine record on their travels, with four wins, two draws and one defeat so far in the league.

Shaun Gale’s squad has some very familiar faces. Apart from Gez, on loan from Newport County, it includes former Cards Manny Williams, Ian Selley, Ian Simpemba and Aaron Howe. They will all no doubt be looking to impress on their return to Kingfield.
