Graham Baker rang the changes tonight and they nearly paid off as the Cards took the lead twice before being pegged back by the home side.

In came Ricky Anane, Craig Faulconbridge, Moses Ademola and Giuseppe Sole. There was no place even on the bench for Jamie Hand and Sam Sloma.

Woking were on the front foot right from the kick-off but Ross Worner had to make a fine save from the Fleet’s top scorer, Leon McKenzie, in the second minute.

The Cards deservedly took the lead in the 18th minute. Gez Sole’s free-kick crashed off the post. Aswad Thomas reacted quickly, putting in a deep, fine cross, which Craig Faulconbridge (pictured), making his full debut, buried with a diving header.

Harry Arter then went close with a blocked shot and, on the 25th minute, Ademola’s lob from the edge of the area bounced up and over the bar. Woking continued to create the best chances but couldn’t take advantage of several promising openings, with Moses Ademola failing to connect with a fine Sole cross.

Thurrock came back into the game, however, as the half progressed, with Fola Orinolishe threatening down the left flank.

In injury time Graham Baker was forced to bring on Nathaniel Pinney for Faulconbridge.

Half-time: Thurrock 0 Woking 1

Soon after the break Mark Ricketts had to be quick to foil David Bryant after the ball had fallen into his path. But, seven minutes in, Kenny Clark, from a flick-on, netted from a corner to level the scores at 1-1. And Orinolishe then nearly gave the home side the lead.

But the Cards responded quickly, with Sole putting a ball to the far post, Ademola centering and then Arter blasting home from four yards to make it 2-1 to the visitors.

Thurrock bounced back and Worner had to be on his best form to foil Orinolishe, off his line quickly to block the Fleet forward on the penalty spot. And the Woking keeper got lucky a few minutes later as the ball rebounded to him. A quick counter-attack, though, saw Ademola shoot wide after Arter had broken forward.

But, once again, Woking conceded at a set piece, Phil Anderson heading home from a corner, with 17 minutes to go, to level the scores at 2-2.

With three minutes left, the Cards missed a great chance to seal a win, as Pinney swung and missed before Arter’s shot was saved. Two minutes later, a quick counter-attack was wasted as Arter failed to play in one of his team mates.

The home side threatened again on the stroke of the final whistle from another corner but the Cards held out to preserve a point.
