Woking v Dorchester Town
3pm on Saturday 28 November 2009
The Cards welcome the returning Ian Selley and his team mates from Dorchester Town tomorrow. Graham Baker’s side will be hoping that they can build on the six goals put past St Albans last Saturday in the FA Trophy and get in amongst the goals in the league too.
WOKING
Graham Baker has now managed to bring in the two loan forwards from Crystal Palace whom he tried to sign last week but plans to start with the same XI as against St Albans, with the new players on the bench. If so, this also means no starting place for Jon Boardman, Aswad Thomas, Mitchell Bryant, Sam Sloma and Luke Medley. Almost an embarrassment of choice if everyone is fit, as Graham expects to be the case.
As all Cards fans are aware, our home league form is patchy at best: two wins, three draws, three defeats, four goals for and against. So, three points would be very welcome indeed.
DORCHESTER TOWN
One of Graham’s worries is that Dorchester will be boosted by the ‘new manager’ syndrome. Roy O’Brien was sacked last weekend after the Magpies lost at local rivals, Weymouth, in the FA Trophy. Ashley Vickers has been appointed as Player/ Caretaker Manager, with some speculation that Ian Selley might be one of those looking to step up into a management role.
Two other well-known names in the Magpies’ squad are Nick Crittenden, the former Yeovil, Aldershot and Weymouth midfielder, and Kevin Hill, who played nearly 500 games for Torquay United.
Dorchester started the season very poorly away from home, losing seven games in succession, but have picked up recently, winning their last two league games on their travels, at Maidenhead United and Havant and Waterlooville. But they are five places off the bottom and only three points above the relegation places.
