The Cards are off to Wembley on 24 October! Well, Wembley FC actually, where Hendon, our FA Cup opponents in the 4th Qualifying Round, play.
Hendon won an epic encounter last night in their FA Cup replay with Ashford Town (Middx). With 13 minutes to full-time, and with the score at 1-1, the Greens found themselves reduced to ten men. In extra time Ashford went ahead 2-1 but Hendon equalised in stoppage time to take the game into a penalty shoot-out. Hendon eventually won through 9-8 on penalties (even though ‘Livescore’ broadcast that Ashford had won after they’d converted their sixth penalty!)
Hendon currently lie 14th in the Ryman Premier Division (i.e. the same league as our opponents in the last round, Maidstone United) and include two former Woking Academy players in their ranks, Casey and Kevin Maclaren.
Hendon’s progress in the competition so far has been:
1Q: Marlow 0 Hendon 2 (Bent, Garner)
2Q: Hendon 2 Kingstonian 1 (C. Maclaren, Hunt)
3Q: Hendon 0 Ashford Town (Middx) 0
3QR: Ashford Town (Middx) 2 Hendon 2 (Ochoa, Garner)
(1-1 at full-time. Hendon won 9-8 on penalties)
