The Cards travel down to Totton on Saturday afternoon for their fifth formal pre-season friendly. This fixture looks to be much more of a proper test of the side Graham Baker is putting together in the sense that he has said that he plans to play a similar line-up to that in the first half against Fulham, which comprised mainly players on contract, and to play most of them for a full 90 minutes. This will pave the way for the real tests against Aldershot Town on Tuesday and Stevenage Borough the following Saturday.
AFC TOTTON
The Stags have had two home friendlies so far, drawing 2-2 with a Southampton XI, with Mark Osmand and Dean Faithfull on target, and then losing 3-1 to Salisbury City, with Nat Sherborne the scorer. The Stags look well prepared for the season ahead, with a number of promising signings, including ex-Card Chris Collins, who has joined them from Sutton United. Last year they finished 3rd in the Southern League Division One South and West, losing 2-1 to Didcot Town in the play-off final.

By car
Head for the M3 and then the M27. Leave M27 at J3, taking the M271 (signposted Southampton, Romsey, The Docks). After nearly two miles, at the Redbridge roundabout, take second exit onto the A35 (signposted Totton etc), before merging onto A36 (signposted Town Centre). After about 0.5k turn right into Beaumont Road and then turn right into Testwood Lane and then turn right again into Testwood Place. The AA suggests allowing about an hour and a quarter for the journey.
By train
It looks as though the best journey would be to take the 13.16 from Woking to Basingstoke (arriving 13.35), then picking up the 13.50 to Southampton Central, arriving 14.22. It’s about a four mile taxi journey from there to the ground.
Come on, you Cards!
P.S. Don’t forget that Woking are at home to Aldershot Town on Tuesday 28 July; kick-off 7.45pm.
