After the game I asked Wilf when he had last scored a hat-trick. ?Last year for Yeovil Reserves. The first goal today was a volley, for the second I went near post for a cross from Joel, and the third I was at the front post following in a shot from Liam.? I asked Wilf what had been the difference between Tuesday and today. He replied ?today everyone was on it and definitely wanted the win.? Wilf told me that he could have had a fourth when he hit the post but that winning and three points were the most important things.
John Moore also spoke to Phil Gilchrist after the match. He was very pleased with the ?effort and commitment? shown by all the players today, particularly after Tuesday?s poor performance. He said, ?in training, following Tuesday?s loss, they?d done one or two things a bit differently and he thought this had contributed towards today?s much improved showing.? As soon as he saw the players arrive today he sensed there was a ?mood of great determination about them.? He was emphatic that this needs to be shown by the players every time they pull on a Woking shirt.
He was very pleased too with Charlie Moone?s performance, adding that ? he?d worked hard and slotted in well alongside Wilfred Domoraud in attack?.
Commenting on the game itself, he said that ?we?d battered them in the first-half? and the players had done all that he?d asked them to do. Despite a bit of ?a shaky period in the second-half when they pulled a goal back and Simon Eastwood had needed to produce several excellent saves, we fully deserved the victory.?
