UPDATE FROM PHIL GILCHRIST

I spoke to Phil Gilchrist this lunchtime for an update prior to tomorrow?s away trip to Crawley Town.

Not surprisingly, Phil said that he was very happy with our performance at Wrexham, especially bearing in mind the number of senior players who were absent for one reason or another. Before the game, and during the first half, he would have settled for a point, but he thought that we had had chances to win the game in the second half.

Looking forward to tomorrow?s trip, Phil confirmed that Tom Hutchinson and Paolo Vernazza will both be missing through injury and Gez Sole through suspension. Colin Miles, who had to go to hospital after the Crawley game with ear drum problems, is back in training today but it sounds as though Phil is unlikely to risk him. Of course, Paul Lorraine is now available, having completed his three-match suspension. Liam Marum, who had been suffering from flu-like symptoms at Lewes and in the Crawley game, is now fit and well and in contention.

Joe Magunda, whose contract at Leicester has expired, has now been signed on a month?s contract. Simon Eastwood?s and Tom Denton?s loans expire on 2 January and Phil is talking to Huddersfield Town about both players.

Phil says that the team travels to Crawley in a confident frame of mind, on the back of a good away record and having held Crawley on Boxing Day with ten men for half the game. Indeed, as so often this season, had we been a bit more clinical in front of goal the draw might have been turned into a win.

Phil asked me to wish all Woking fans a ?Happy New Year? and hopes that as many supporters as possible will make the trip to the Broadfield Stadium tomorrow to cheer the team on.
