Tom joined the Cards ahead of the 2021/22 season following his release from fellow National League side Boreham Wood. The vastly experienced midfielder, who can also play in central defence, spent four years with the Wood, making more than 150 appearances in all competitions, during which time the club twice finished in the play-off places. It would include a fourth place finish in 2018, when the Wood reached the play-off final, losing 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers at Wembley. After making more than 500 career appearances he now joins the Cards looking to enjoy another exciting season.
He has twice been a part of National League promotion-winning sides. In 2013/14 he was a near ever-present in the Cambridge United side promoted to League Two via the play-offs after a second-place finish, playing the full 90 minutes against Gateshead in the final, and making a further 38 league appearances in the Football League the following season. He was also on loan at Lincoln City for a part of their title winning campaign in 2016/17. He spent two further seasons in the Football League, making more than 50 appearances for Barnet between 2015 and 2017, helping secure back-to-back 15th place finishes for the Bees. In his earlier career he was a regular for Dartford during the height of their rivalry against Woking, with the Darts finishing second to the Cards in the 2011/12 National League South season, before winning promotion via the play-offs. He also helped the Kent-side secure an eighth place finish in their first season in the top tier of non-league football before joining Cambridge.
