Match Reports and Team Details – Week commencing 6th October 2025
Wednesday 8th October
Woking U19 (EDS) 7 – 0 Boreham Wood: National League Academy – South Division
Westfield FC, Woking Park
Report from Holly Porter
After a disappointing result against Dartford last time out, a busy afternoon in Woking saw a far more desirable performance from the Cards as they maintained their 100% home record this season.
It only took 2 minutes for the scoring to begin at Westfield, with a first of the season for Rangel, and the first of 5 assists across the 90 for Parkes. It was the left-back’s free-kick delivery which caused problems for the visitors, with the accuracy of Rangel’s header proving deadly.
A second within the opening 10 minutes gave Woking a comfortable two-goal cushion. Once again, it was Parkes with the assist, this time in open play as he pulled the ball back to Hayati on the edge of the penalty area. The first-time effort from Hayati was well-struck, and the power of the effort left Miller no chance in the Boreham Wood net.
Despite a goalless remaining 35 minutes, the positive play did not stop for the hosts, with confident patterns of play, decisive balls forward, and clear-cut chances defining the rest of the half.
A ball threaded across the box by Dryer in the 19th minute fell just out of reach of Trickett, with another chance falling for the forward three minutes later. Brilliance from Trickett saw an awkward ball controlled on the edge of the box as the forward turned into the penalty area. As he was about to pull the trigger, however, a crucial block was made to deny Trickett an attempt on goal.
The 26th minute saw Mpoy close to making it three with a low shot from just inside the Wood box, but his effort dragged just wide of the bottom right corner.
The closest Boreham Wood got to a goal in the first half, and indeed in the full 90, was in the 28th minute, when the attack closed down Verga, and got a touch on his clearance. The following shot came from the edge of the area, but Verga reacted well and saved the effort with his feet to deny the visitors.
The 32nd minute saw a free-kick for Boreham Wood delivered into the goalmouth in a second chance in a matter of minutes, but Verga made first contact and then collected the loose ball before an effort could be made on goal.
Business resumed for Woking just a minute later, with a brilliant ball upfield from Cotton, which was chased down by Trickett. The forward then managed to pull the ball back to Dryer, who had made a well-timed run into the centre of the box, but a last-second block from the visitors denied Dryer a simple finish.
Trickett went for goal himself in the 37th minute, with a shot from range that rose over the crossbar, and, moments later, another delivery from Parkes looked dangerous, but this time the ball cleared the box with little threat to the Boreham Wood goal.
Half-time: Woking 2 – 0 Boreham Wood
Despite the half-time break, Woking were able to keep the momentum going and nearly secured a third goal just seconds after the restart. It was Dryer’s delivery that connected with Hayati in the goalmouth, but the ball fell narrowly off target.
A second shot to be fired over the bar in the opening stages came from Boxall in the 55th minute, who did well to cut out a Boreham ball, picking the ball out of the air, but the final shot could not threaten Miller.
Dryer searched to get on the scoresheet once again, as he so often does, and went close in the 56th minute with an effort which forced a fingertips’ save from Miller.
Miller was no match for Dryer from the resulting corner, however, with the no.1 initially punching the ball back into the penalty area, allowing Dryer to power a volley home in Woking’s third.
The 67th minute saw Dryer hit the double, and yet again it was a ruthless Parkes free-kick which made the difference, with Dryer touching home from close range.
Less than a minute later, Dryer found himself through on goal again, this time one-on-one with Miller, but his attempt to slot around the keeper was cut out with a good save from the Boreham no.1.
Patterson netted his first of the season in the 78th minute, after the ball was left to him on the edge of the penalty area, and a pinpoint hit rifled the net, securing the fifth of the afternoon, and demonstrative of a team playing with real confidence.
Dryer continued the search for his hat-trick with a drive into the box in the 80th minute, which saw him drag a shot just wide. Minutes later, Dryer was there again, this time connecting with Greenstreet’s delivery, but the same fate was met as the connection sent the ball wide.
The perilous Parkes’ free-kick returned in the 85th minute and, in almost an identical chance to the opener, Rangel rose highest, but this time the header couldn’t be directed into the net.
The unmarked Dryer arrived at the back post in the 86th minute to tap a corner-ball home in his third. Despite the hat-trick, Dryer was hungry for more, and a fourth in the dying stages of the game made it 11 goals in 6 appearances for the Cards this season. It was Parkes who found Dryer in the goalmouth, with the forward needing only to tap the ball over the line in the final goal of the affair, rounding off a first-class performance and a deserved 3 points.
After the game, Academy Manager Matt Winter reflected: “The scoreline is obviously massively pleasing, and the performance on the whole was really good as well. I think we made hard work of it at times and particularly wasteful in the final third, which is strange to say when you come out on a result like today, but overall we’re really delighted.”
On quadruple goalscorer Tom Dryer: “He’s in fantastic form, not just for us but for Westfield (his loan club) as well, and it’s great for him to get more goals today and really keep building his confidence. We know the quality he has.”

Isthmian Youth League Cup Second Round
Knaphill FC, Redding Way
Report from Ian Tilley
This was not a great game, with Woking finding the passing game we have seen earlier in the season hard to come by.
Woking started well enough, winning a corner on six minutes, and shortly afterwards a penalty. Mansour was tripped as he dribbled into the penalty area, and Loader converted smartly for an eleventh minute lead. But the hoped for Cards domination did not materialise.
On 27 minutes the visitors had their equaliser. What looked to be no more than a touch from a deflection was flagged as handball by the assistant referee, and given as a penalty by the referee. Alex Grey hit the spot kick down the middle, MacFadyen having dived to his right.
From this point the Cards somewhat lost their way, perhaps the break would help them to reset?
Half-term: Woking 1 – 1 Horsham YM
The second half would see glimpses of the quality that Woking have, but consistency would prove elusive.
Woking made substitutions and positional changes as they searched for a breakthrough, but a fine passing move involving Callow, Loader and Hurp on 83 minutes rather stood out as an exception to the struggles they were otherwise having.
Woking did come close on 90 minutes, but English headed wide from Hurp’s corner, and the game would be decided on penalty kicks.
Woking went first and Gales gave them the lead, but Horsham were 2 – 1 ahead after two kicks each, and although Loader scored Woking’s third, the tie was soon decided in Horsham’s favour.
Woking: Harry MacFadyen, Alex Jefferies (Will English 69), Luke Manly (C), Casper Hammond, Dan Weadon, Jeremy Costa (Jagger Chislett 57), Alfie Gales, Jaden Mansour (Joe Callow 76), Will Richards (Will Hurp 57), Kameron Sam, George Loader. Unused substitute: Josh Allan (GK).
Goal: Loader 11 (pen).
Westfield news
Woking’s U17s are representing Westfield in the Allied Counties Youth League this season. Last week’s match details are as follows:
Monday 6th October. Westfield 3 – 2 Cove.
Westfield went behind on 6 minutes, but were back on level terms ten minutes later, Salman finding the net from six yards after a goalmouth scramble. Salman turned provider on 30 minutes, his run and pass setting up Bailey for a very good finish from outside the penalty area.
Westfield were pegged back from the penalty spot with the last kick of the first half but were not to be denied the victory. The fine winning goal came on 79 minutes, McColl-Eljanfar’s quality through ball finished well by Thomas, a goal well deserved by his good play.
Westfield: Ryan Warren, Caleb Trickett, Dylan Hosali, Jack Kelly (Byron O’Donnell 64), Daejharn Wells, Harvey Johnson, Finn Salman (C), Max Thomas, Ben Bailey (Logan Jacques 73), Harry Munden (Arthur Pereira 61), Joe Fisher (Zack McColl-Eljanfar 75). Unused substitute: Callum Collins (GK).
