The players and management of Woking Football Club took time out to visit the children’s wards in 2 local hospitals earlier this week and spread some Christmas cheer. Visiting both St Peter’s and the Royal Surrey Hospitals is a highlight of the club year after year, with supporters and players raising £3,000.
Gifts were purchased for families and children alongside much-needed equipment for the wards. The fund was further boosted this year by a generous donation of £500 from Woking Rotary.

Ian Nicholson, the Club Chaplain and Project coordinator, had this to say,: “It is a genuine privilege to be able to help children and families in this small way each year. The players and supporters value giving something back into the local community and there is always a lot of laughter and some tears when we deliver the gifts. We know that the staff and patients really appreciate the efforts and that the ward gifts in particular are much needed and well used.”

Remaining funds will be allocated to deliver hampers to local people, purchase provisions for Woking Foodbank and allocate to similar community initiatives through the club partner charity Cardinals in the Community.
