Match Reports and Team Details – Week commencing 10th November 2025
Wednesday 12th November
Woking U18 3 – 2 Eastleigh: National League U19 Alliance – Division F
Woking College, Rydens Way
Report from Holly Porter
An Eastleigh side who started the day second in the league took to Surrey on Wednesday to face a Woking team who have struggled to establish a run of form amidst several squad changes.
Despite this, the biggest chance of the opening stages fell to Rhioui, who found himself with the ball at his feet, unmarked in the box in just the 2nd minute. His effort, however, was too close to Luke Dochniak in the Eastleigh net, who saved with his feet to deny the hosts an early lead.
It was then Eastleigh who proved threatening, hitting the crossbar in the 4th minute, and forcing a good save from Moore shortly before they took the lead. That lead came in the 15th minute, with Vincent Banks receiving the ball for the visitors in the centre of the box, clipping his shot against the inside of the post and into the far corner.
Woking did create a couple of decent chances to level following the setback, most notably with Boyle in attacking action from defence, delivering a dangerous ball to Loader, but his 21st-minute header fell wide.
It was Eastleigh who were next to net, with a 27th-minute free-kick from Finlay Murray smashing against Moore’s crossbar, falling back out into a crowded penalty area. The ball was then brought down on the chest of Freddie Beeson, who made no mistake on accuracy, and took his effort well to double the advantage.
Involved once again in attacking action, Boyle’s delivery worked its way through the box, this time falling to Francis, who was a fraction away from reducing the deficit, with a first-time effort which connected only with the post on the 30-minute mark.
Woking did manage to reduce the deficit before half-time, courtesy of a pinpoint effort from Rhioui. It was Loader’s initial blocked effort that saw the ball fall to Rhioui in the 35th minute, who beautifully steered the ball into the top left corner.
A crucial intervention from Moore saw Woking in at the half with just the one goal deficit, as a 41st-minute free-kick took a deflection towards the bottom corner, and the no.1 did an admirable job at getting down to push the effort out.
Half-time: Woking 1 – 2 Eastleigh
A stronger second-half showing commenced, with Bushby’s 51st-minute free-kick forcing a fingertips save from Dochniak in what was fractionally away from an equaliser.
The Cards continued their search for a leveller, and, as the tie turned to the final 20 minutes, a flurry of chances seemed on the brink of making that happen. Substitute Tricker nearly found a gap at the near post in the 69th minute, but saw his effort cut out. Moments later, Boyle’s cross was nearly met by a diving header from Loader, but the forward couldn’t make first contact.
It was Loader who equalised for the Cards, with an effort from the goalmouth which took a favourable deflection to take the ball out of Dochniak’s reach, with 15 minutes to go to find the winner.
Introduced late on, but almost the embodiment of instant impact, Richards nearly took the lead within a minute of entering the field. The 81st minute saw a curled effort seemingly destined for the bottom right corner, but a fantastic reaction from Dochniak denied the substitute the perfect welcome to the tie.
Late action saw a 90th-minute effort from Loader tipped over the bar by the fingertips of Dochniak, which, as the clock ran down, seemed like the final golden opportunity to win it. 3 minutes into stoppage time, however, Tricker changed that narrative, after Loader went on a driving run forward, and found the substitute in the goalmouth. Calmly slotting home from the centre of the box to win it for his side, a far more desirable second-half performance saw Eastleigh in league defeat for just the second time this season.
“The boys showed really good resilience as the first half went on, and the second half performance was unbelievable,” reflected Academy Coach George Doré after the game. “That’s the level and the standards that we’ve set for the boys.”
Woking: James Moore, Louie Boyle, Jack Owen, George Mattingley, Oliver Rigby, Sonnie Leedham, Zack Rhioui (Jack Tricker 55’), Frankie Bushby ©, George Loader, Will Ledbury (Will Richards 80’), Timothy Francis (Jojo Ampah 86’). Unused Substitutes: Kai Baverstock, Aaron Zziwa (GK).
Goalscorers: Zack Rhioui 35’, George Loader 74’, Jack Tricker 90+3’.
Eversley & California 2 – 6 Westfield (represented by Woking U17) – Allied Counties League – West Division
Eversley Sports Association, Fox Lane
Report from Ian Tilley
There were a few changes to personnel for this fixture, but no change to the 100% start to the League season.
Westfield started strongly and apart from one good Collins save were soon dominant and establishing an unassailable lead.
After Bailey was tripped, Munden’s 25-yard free kick, albeit with the aid of a deflection, opened the scoring on 14 minutes.
Pepper doubled the lead on 21 minutes, a fine, long diagonal pass from Hosali neatly dispatched as the right-sided attacker ran in from the corner of the penalty area.
It was three just two minutes later, Fisher clinical with his finish when the ball broke to him inside the penalty area.
Westfield didn’t have it all their own way, Collins making another good save after a free kick had been headed back across the goalmouth, and Hosali cautioned for a late tackle.
But Westfield would go into the break four up, Munden playing the penetrating through ball and Pepper’s shot looping over the stranded ‘keeper after a deflection once again favoured the visitors.
Half-time: Eversley & California 0 – 4 Westfield
Westfield made a change for the second-half, Salman dropping to centre-back in the stead of the departing Hosali, with Flemming coming into central midfield.
It seemed the fifth goal would soon come, Hurp, Pepper and Salman all creating opportunities, but the hosts were to get one back on 61 minutes, a tap in after Collins’ save fell to the Eversley forward.
If Westfield were guilty of letting their concentration slip, then conceding a second goal on 65 minutes after some careless play was punished, would help them re-focus.
Westfield went on to control the rest of the game, although their last two goals wouldn’t come until the closing stages. A Wells’ corner powerfully headed home by O’Donnell, and Munden rounding things off with a fine solo effort, cutting inside and hitting the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
An evening’s work well done, with Westfield conquerors of both their stubborn opponents and a very difficult playing surface.
Woking: Callum Collins, Caleb Trickett, Dylan Hosali (Nathaniel Flemming 46), Byron O’Donnell, Daejharn Wells, Will Hurp, Finn Salman, Jack Pepper (Max Thomas 76), Ben Bailey (Santiago Cuevas 81), Harry Munden, Joe Fisher (Zack McColl-Eljanfali 60). Unused substitute: Joshua Allan (GK).
Goals: Munden 14, 90+3, Pepper 21, 48, Fisher 23, O’Donnell 88.
Thursday 13th November
Woking U19 4 – 1 Molesey Reserves: The Michael Bidmead (Suburban League) Challenge Cup – Second Round
Knaphill FC, Redding Way
Report from Ian Tilley
Having defeated Chessington and Hook in the First Round, Woking took on another Central League club. An opportunity to play with a team selected from across the Academy, and to give a game to some new players.
On an evening where the BBC weather’s prediction of a 100% chance of heavy rain proved to be 100% correct, the Cards started well. New EDS recruit Denis Travin, playing on the right side of the attack, was much involved, linking well with McGibbon, Page, Solecki and Hudson-Odoi.
On 17 minutes it was Page and Hudson-Odoi who would combine to make it 1 – 0. McQueen was controlling play in midfield and was involved again as Page was given space on the right wing to drive to the byline and pull the ball across for Hudson-Odoi to finish emphatically.
On 30 minutes Woking appeals were waved away after Solecki was, rather surprisingly, adjudged to have fallen over when running through on a one-to-one opportunity. A minute later there were no such doubts as Page seized on a defensive error, ran through, rounded the ‘keeper and slotted home.
Woking were not comfortable for long, first year Manly had already made one good defensive block before Molesey scored on 38 minutes, a far post cross knocked back across the area and headed home from close range, with new EDS ‘keeper Saward unprotected. Woking now needed the break to reset.
Half-time: Woking 2 Molesey 1
A move started by Mezenner, another EDS recruit, led to a Hudson-Odoi shot nearly finding its way under the ‘keeper, but apart from another Hudson-Odoi shot being well saved the Cards were rather losing their way in the inclement weather.
A Molesey equaliser seemed as likely as another Woking goal until the hosts regained control on 75 minutes. Vally played Akinwalere in on goal and a foul challenge conceded a penalty which Akinwalere scored to his right, the ‘keeper going the other way.
Within five minutes a fine goal made it four, Frawley and Akinwalere combining to set up Vally, who finished emphatically to seal the victory. Woking battled to the end and Page, Solecki and Malhotra all came close to adding further gloss to the score.
Woking could celebrate with progress to the next round secured, but the game had not been quite as straightforward as one might have imagined it would be.
Woking: Samuel Saward, Jack McGibbon, Luke Manly, Joel Jennison-Leppa, Joe Frawley, Cameron McQueen (Hayden Vally 67), Yousef Mezenner (Leo Christophers 58), Denis Travin (Amario Malhotra 80), Josh Solecki ©, Jayden Hudson-Odoi (Seyi Akinwalere 67), Jalil Page. Unused substitute: Jools Lacey (GK).
Goals: Hudson-Odoi 17, Page 31, Akinwalere 75 (pen), Vally 79.
