Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round Replay

St. James Park

14th October 2025

On a night with plenty of optimism and excitement, ten-man Woking exited the Emirates FA Cup at the first hurdle in a miserable manner.

The game got off to a flyer after Jake Forster-Caskey scored his first goal for the club, winning the ball high up the pitch and slotting past the Brackley goalkeeper, inside the first minute. Neal Ardley made six changes to his starting XI, five of those being the substitutions he made in the original game on the hour mark.

Sloppy defending, however, saw the hosts get back on level terms and subsequently take the lead through Matt Lowe and then Daniel Waldron. The talking point from the game though, came in the 24th minute when Joshua Osude was shown a straight red card and sent off for a perfectly reasonable challenge. This of course, set the team with a real challenge for the remainder of the game, down to ten men and already a goal behind. Sympathy could be felt for Josh, as he was rewarded with his first start since August in the National League Cup against West Ham United U21s, and had already shown lots of flair in the first quarter of the game.

Shortly before half-time, a stunning free-kick from Forster-Caskey had us back all square going into the break, carrying lots of momentum and belief. It was like London buses for Jake, waiting ten games for his first goal, then two came at once.

Half time: Brackley Town 2-2 Woking

Unfortunately, the second 45 minutes had nothing to cheer about, as quick-fire goals from Lowe and Waldron again had the hosts up by two goals shortly after the hour mark. To add salt to the wound, Scott Pollock and Kyle Morrison went on the make it five and then six, to set up a tie at home to Notts County in the First Round proper.

Substitution wise, Jack Turner only saw 17 minutes of action as he was taken back off with an injury he picked up towards the end of the game.

A very disappointing way to exit any competition, especially one with plenty of history, but ultimately, attention now turns back to league action as the Cards prepare to travel up North to face Altrincham this coming Saturday.
